This November, Quinn Kelsey returns to the Lyric Opera of Chicago, doing double duty as scorned husband Alfio in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana and the vengeful clown Tonio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci. Kelsey is a favorite at Lyric, debuting there in the 2003/4 season in Faust as a member of the Ryan Opera Center. He’s appeared there in nearly 20 roles over the years, including a filmed production of Pagliacci in 2021.

Kelsey joins an all-star cast in Elijah Moshinsky’s production (directed for the revival by Peter McClintock), under the baton of Lyric’s Music Director, Enrique Mazzola. In Cavalleria Rusticana, Yulia Matochkina sings Santuzza, with SeokJong Baek as Turiddu, Lauren Decker as Mamma Lucia, and Camille Robles as Lola. Russell Thomas sings Canio in Pagliacci, with Gabriella Reyes as Nedda, Luke Sutliff as Silvio, and Daniel Luis Espinal as Beppe.

Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci plays November 1 through 23.
