On March 20 and 22, Quinn Kelsey joins the Seiji Ozawa Music Academy Opera Project XXI in Tokyo for Verdi’s beloved classic, La traviata. Kelsey sings the role of Georgio Germont, a role he has sung previously at The Metropolitan Opera, Opernhaus Zürich, Royal Ballet and Opera, Canadian Opera Company, and San Francisco Opera, among others. San Francisco Classical Voice praised his performance there, saying, “Kelsey’s contribution as the tragedy-inducing father, Giorgio Germont, was a gift… Kelsey provided the beauty and warmth essential to create a believable father who ultimately begs for forgiveness.”
Kelsey joins a cast of accomplished Verdians in a new production by David Kneuss, led by Principal Conductor Diego Matheuz. Nina Minasyan sings the doomed Violetta, with Kang Wang as the lovestruck Alfredo.
