On April 26 and May 3, 8, 11, and 15, Quinn Kelsey sings his signature role, Verdi’s Rigoletto, at Opernhaus Zürich. He returns to Tatjana Gürbaca’s minimalist production, where he first found international success in the role in the premiere of the production thirteen years ago.
Since then, he has appeared as Rigoletto at The Metropolitan Opera, Royal Ballet and Opera, Canadian Opera Company, San Francisco Opera, and many others. Of his recent performances at The Metropolitan Opera, Bachtrack said, “Quinn Kelsey delivered the most poignant and powerful performance of the evening. With his commanding stage presence and warm, full-bodied baritone, he adroitly managed the dramatic and vocal challenges of the role.”
Led by Andrea Sanguineti in the pit, Kelsey appears alongside Brenda Rae as the innocent Gilda, Liparit Avetisyan as the lecherous Duke of Mantua, Brent Michael Smith as the hitman Sparafucile, and Elena Maximova as the seductive Maddalena.
