This November, baritone Quinn Kelsey returns to The Metropolitan Opera stage to portray the menacing police chief Baron Scarpia in Sir David McVicar’s production of Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca, conducted by Oksana Lyniv. The engagement marks a swift return to The Met for Kelsey, who appeared earlier this autumn starring in the title role of Verdi’s Macbeth.

Kelsey’s portrayal of Scarpia—most notably his November 2024 role debut at the Met—earned widespread critical praise, with the New York Classical Review celebrating his commanding stage presence, rich vocal resonance, and chillingly nuanced psychological villainy.

Kelsey stars opposite Spanish soprano Saioa Hernández in the title role of Floria Tosca and tenor SeokJong Baek as the painter Mario Cavaradossi. The ensemble also features bass-baritone William Guanbo Su as Cesare Angelotti, Paul Corona as the Sacristan, Tony Stevenson as Spoletta, and Christopher Job as Sciarrone.

Kelsey performs on November 1 (matinee), 6, 9, 14, 17, and 20.
